Co-op Celebration at Octopus (a Plus One Event)
Sunday, August 26, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Octopus (Cedar Falls)
Octopus and the Cedar Falls Food Co-op are joining together to celebrate the Co-op’s success and hear about what lies ahead. The Co-op is already present in the community, people are involved – and we are getting closer to opening our doors to a cooperative grocery store in Cedar Falls. This summer, we passed the 850 member-owner mark and are well on our way toward 900! Keep spreading the word so we can celebrate that milestone at this event. As an added incentive, those who join that night will receive a $20 gift card to another College Hill establishment, Greenhouse Kitchen.
Join us for good food, drinks and conversation. Member-owners, bring a friend who would benefit from learning more about the Co-op. And don’t forget our August incentive: become a new member-owner that night (or be listed as a referral for a new member) and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a gift basket from Frontier Spices. Co-op Potluck and Kickball

We’re combining our potluck with some kickball fun. Co-op members, bring a friend who would enjoy learning more about our efforts to bring a full-service grocery to Cedar Falls. This event is family-friendly and all are welcome. Bring a dish to share and your own tableware if possible so we can reduce landfill waste. We’ll have water and iced tea for everyone, but feel free to bring your own beverage if you prefer. Let’s finish the month together with some friendly competition and delicious food!

All are welcome at this casual event. This is a Plus-one mixer, so we encourage member-owners to bring a friend who would benefit from discovering more about the Co-op. While you’re there, enjoy a beverage and one of the many delicious meal selections off of the Cottonwood Canyon menu. Don’t forget your membership card, as this business gives 10% off of your order if you are a member-owner. If you join that night, we’ll sweeten the deal for you with a complimentary gift. Co-op Field Trip to Oneota Community Food Co-op in Decorah Iowa
Tuesday, June 12, departure time: 8:30 a.m. – Estimated return time: 2:00 p.m.
Do you want to see a cooperative grocery store in action? Join us on this trip to visit a store that is around the size and scope that we are looking for in our own co-op. We’ll get a tour of the store, have a chance to shop there and grab lunch there or elsewhere downtown Decorah, Iowa. When I’m out and about telling others about our amazing Co-op events, I sometimes encounter people who mistakenly believe that they cannot attend because they are not yet member-owners. Cooperative Principle 7, “Concern for Community” is something we embody each time we host an event. Whether monthly activities such as potlucks, Co-op Connections, and our book club or more infrequent events such as our recent trivia night, we welcome everyone! And if you haven’t yet been to a Co-op event, you have been missing out.

From farming in Southern Appalachians, Chicago world fair, and some of the finest restaurants in New York, where will our next adventure take us?
As you can see CFFC book club is off to a successful start. What a superb way of meeting like-minded people and share a common interest. The club meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 4:45. At our April 23 meeting the club will be talking about the book The Girl With Seven Names, author: Hyeonseo Lee. Join in the discussion in person or check out the Facebook Group.

Trivia Anyone? Our first ever Co-op Trivia Night brought out some new and familiar faces for some lively competition.
March ended with a bang. Not only did we hit our month’s goal with 750 member-owners, but we also hosted a fabulous trivia event on March 28 at Lark Brewing in Waterloo.
