The Co-op is pleased to announce the appointments of two new members to serve on the board of directors.
Paige Everly grew up in Cedar Falls and attended UNI. Most of her adult life, she has lived outside of the area, including a time in Iowa City, where she worked as a deli manager at New Pioneer Food Co-op. It was here that Paige caught the co-op fever, which she continued to cultivate through volunteerism in the various communities she lived. Paige is committed to bringing the co-op principles and a sense of shared community to the city where she grew up and is excited to be back home. Paige’s term will expire in 2021.
As a public health nutritionist and Registered Dietitian, Christine Sexton is a passionate promoter of healthy lifestyles and healthy communities. She volunteers for the co-op because she understands the importance of creating a sustainable local food system that will benefit eaters, producers, and our local economy. When she’s not working with clients or cooking with her family, Christine enjoys trail running, yoga, exploring new places, and getting outdoors. Christine’s term will expire in 2020.
About the Vacancies
Paige and Christine have been appointed to fill two of four Board vacancies. As was reported earlier, Trevor Hendrickson stepped down this winter, and this spring Jackie Berggren, Andrew Morse, and Scott Wirtz stepped down as well. The board thanks each of these outgoing members for their dedication and service to the Co-op!
If you’re doing the math, you see that we still have two vacancies to fill. The board is currently interviewing potential appointees to fill the vacancies, but if you are interested in serving, please send me an email – I’d love to chat with you about this opportunity to serve as the Co-op continues to grow and get closer to the next stage of development. We are particularly interested in someone with a finance background.
